About the Site Superintendent Role

As our Site Superintendent, you will oversee the construction of high-tech self-storage units and other complex commercial structures in San Diego. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations on the construction site, ensuring that work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.


To accomplish this, you will work closely with our our internal team of project managers, coordinators, and accountants, as well as with our trusted subcontractor base and industry connections to provide your project with valuable input and budgeting to propose creative, responsible means and methods to meet each project's unique needs.


Our ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, organized, and efficient problem solver who can multitask and communicate effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, and team members. You should be committed to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.


Responsibilities of a Site Superintendent:

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the project from start to finish.
  • Ensure the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Work closely with project managers, project coordinators, and project accountants to manage day-to-day site operations.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure the project is progressing according to plan.
  • Ensure that subcontractors adhere to safety protocols and quality control standards.
  • Communicate regularly with project stakeholders, including the owner, architect, and other key players.
  • Manage project schedules and budgets using Microsoft Project and Procore software.
  • Manage project documents using DropBox and other digital platforms.
  • Monitor and report project progress to project managers and stakeholders.
  • Train and supervise site assistants, including assistant superintendents and skilled laborers.
  • Perform quality control inspections of work in progress and completed work.
  • Ensure that the project site is clean, organized, and safe at all times.


What does a successful Site Superintendent look like?

To be successful in this role, you should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in large-scale commercial or industrial development projects, preferably in the construction of self-storage buildings. You should be knowledgeable in project management, able to understand complex project schedules, and be proficient in Microsoft Project scheduling and Procore software.

  • Experience managing and training site assistants, including assistant superintendents and skilled laborers.

Compensation & Benefits

Starting salary for the Site Superintendent role is $110,000. Salaries may vary depending on experience and qualifications. DAI also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, vision, dental, supplemental, and life insurance, 401(k) matching, paid sick time, nine holidays off, and paid time off.


Location:

The Site Superintendent will work primarily in the San Diego area. The successful candidate must be willing to commute to different project locations as needed. The company will work to keep site superintendents geographically close to their project sites but cannot guarantee that every site superintendent will have a short commute for every project.
